Favourite Friday: Vaseline Aloe Soothe

vaseline

I have never really been that person who burns in the sun easily- thank you Italian roots- but, ever since moving to a far more sunnier destination, I am more prone to the red skin!

The first time I had a really horrible sun burn was a year ago on the Fourth of July. I guess between the jell-o shots and endless Corona’s, I didn’t really realize my skin literally sizzling away in the sun.

I am extremely into skincare (hence my distributorship with NuCerity International for the past 3 years), and I firmly believe that if you take care of your skin, you will age more gracefully. Not to mention skin health and taking precautionary measures is very important when living in a sunny climate as melanoma is a very real thing.

Ever since this horrible sunburn last year, I was set on finding the perfect “after sun” product to help with redness, pain and peeling. After all, looking like a snake is not so glamorous. Of course, everyone knows that aloe is “the” thing for after sun care. I must have tried 10 different aloe based products and the one thing I can say about all of them is that they are absolutely soothing when you get a sunburn!

It was not until a company I was product testing for sent me a box and one of the products inside caught my attention right away. The Vaseline Aloe Smoothe Intensive Care Spray Moisturizer came in this green aerosols can and let me tell you…I fell in love. I didn’t even use it until a month or two after receiving this product box because it was “winter” in California (if that is even a thing) and I wasn’t spending my days outside tanning. When I did finally get to use it, I had a little bit of a burn on my shoulders and was peeling a bit. I wasn’t in any pain or anything like that, but definitely had some unwanted colour and shedding.  Like most of my aloe products I tried, it felt soothing right away. But…let me tell you…the next day blew my mind. My peeling had stopped and I was visibly less red. I continued using this product and within a couple of days my shoulders were good as new! I have continued to use this product ever since. It was not until this past week when Tyler and I went to visit my in-laws in Fort Lauderdale that I recalled why I truly loved this product.

First of all, if you have never been to Florida in the dead of summer…you don’t know heat. Being 6 months pregnant didn’t make it such a walk in the park either! The first day we were there we decided to hangout in the pool and even though I put sunscreen on my arms, I didn’t overdo it because we would only be outside for a little bit and I knew it would come off in the pool anyways. After floating around for half an hour, I went inside to change and startled myself when I looked in the mirror because I had a monochromatic look going on where my bathing suit sat. It didn’t take longer than an hour for my shoulders to start to BURN and the pain to kick in. So much that my bra straps hurt and even my t-shirt was uncomfortable. All I have to say is thank goodness for my Vaseline Aloe Smoothe because after a night without it and one horrible sleep later, I picked up the product at the local grocery store and drenched myself in it. It worked within days without fail.

Wherever you live, I strongly advise picking up this product for summer! It’s inexpensive and works like a charm…take it from the once peeling lobster! 😉

xx
